BECOME A VCS CHORAL SCHOLAR

Paid opportunities for passionate, skilled young singers

Are you a strong, committed vocalist looking to grow as a choral artist? The Victoria Choral Society (VCS) invites talented young adult singers to apply for our Choral Scholars Program for the 2025/2026 season.

This is a paid opportunity to perform major works with orchestra, develop leadership and coaching skills, and be part of a vibrant, intergenerational choir community.

What is a VCS Choral Scholar?

VCS Choral Scholars are strong, confident singers who:

      • Have formal vocal training and ensemble experience
      • Possess excellent sight-reading and musicianship
      • Are passionate about choral music and collaborative performance
      • Are eager to lead by example and support fellow choristers through small-group coaching and mentorship

Scholars are embedded in each section of our 150-member auditioned choir, helping elevate the ensemble’s sound while serving as musical role models.

What You’ll Get
      • Paid performance and rehearsal opportunities throughout the season
      • The chance to perform with professional orchestras, conductors, soloists, and dancers
      • A diverse range of large-scale choral works, including both standard repertoire and contemporary music
      • A welcoming, supportive community of singers of all ages
      • Meaningful experience in musical leadership, education, and artistic collaboration
2025/2026 Concert Season

As a Choral Scholar, you’ll perform in:

      • A co-production with Christ Church Cathedral (Nov 2025) – music for choir and organ
      • A featured role in a Victoria Symphony staged production of Peer Gynt (Feb 2026)
      • A VCS-produced concert featuring Brahms’ Requiem (May 2026)
      • Select collaborative performances with Ballet Victoria

Include a brief introduction and, if available, a musical résumé and/or sample recording.

The Victoria Choral Society is an auditioned, mixed-voice symphonic choir dedicated to the performance of great choral masterworks, both past and present. Founded in 1934, VCS performs regularly with professional orchestras, soloists, and guest artists, and is committed to musical excellence, artistic growth, and community engagement.

We perform a wide range of choral-orchestral repertoire and proudly partner with organizations such as the Victoria Symphony, Christ Church Cathedral, and Ballet Victoria to present dynamic, high-quality performances that inspire and connect.
